Meg Ryan
Meg Ryan is a blonde-haired, blue eyed
woman who has a vibrant personality. Her birth name is Margaret Mary Emily Hyra
to Susan (Duggan) who was who was an English teacher, and one-time actress.
Harry Hyra was a math teacher. Ruthenian and Polish, Irish, German, and German
heritage. "Hyra" Her maternal grandmother's maiden name is Ruthenian.
Meg graduated from Bethel high school in Bethel in June 1979. Meg then moved to
New York City and studied journalism at New York University. Meg Ryan as her
name change, started acting to earn extra cash as she finished her studies. Her
screen debut came in 1981 when she made a brief appearance as Candice Bergen’s
daughter in George Cukor's final film Rich and Famous (1981). She was an
auditioned actress and selected to play Betsy in the daily TV soap The World
Turns the World turns (1956). From 1982 until 1984, she was a part of the
show's cast. Meg was also part of the cast in the television series One of the
Boys (1982), but this show was eventually cancelled. In 1984, Meg moved to
Hollywood and was offered a job with the western-themed television series
Wildside (1985). Meg's small part in the blockbuster movie Top Gun (1986) led
to her being cast in Steven Spielberg's Innerspace (1987) where she co-starred
alongside Dennis Quaid. For the remake of D.O.A., she starred again with Quaid.
(1988) and got married on Saint Valentine's Day 1991. Meg starred in When Harry
Met Sally... (1989), which made the scene at the restaurant famous. Meg was
nominated to both the Golden Globe and the BAFTA. In 1990, she co-starred with
Tom Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she played three roles
as DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. In 1993, Meg starred alongside Tom in Sleepless in
Seattle (1993) for which she was nominated again for the Golden Globe. Meg
decided that she would take on a different role than her peers in 1994 when she
played the role of Meg as a drunken mother/wife in When a Man Loves a Woman
(1994). Then, she went back to "cute" with both I.Q. (1994) and
French Kiss (1996). People Magazine named Meg "Woman of the Year" in
1994, and she was awarded the Harvard Hasty Pudding Award.
